Install-friendly A/V manufacturer Integra recently released two HDMI 1.4a, 3D-ready receivers, the DTR-30.2 and DTR-20.2. Both receivers sport the Audio Return Channel function and something Integra calls HDMI Through--a wicked new feature that lets you watch TV without having to turn on your receiver (assuming you're using your receiver for HDMI switching of course). Simply leave it in standby mode, and presto magico! Beautiful HD pictures will miraculously appear on your TV screen. Additionally, both Integra receivers are THX Select 2 Plus certified and packed with all the latest hi-res goodies: internal decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; Faroudja DCDi Cinema 1080p video processing; and 5 (!) HDMI inputs. What's more, both receivers also feature the TI Aureas processing chip and Burr Brown DACs, and the 30.2 also includes 7.2 channels and Audyssey DSX processing if you're so inclined. With Integra's long-standing tradition of cutting edge performance and superb value, these latest offerings are sure to please. The 30.2 lists for $799, and the 20.2 for $599; both receivers available now.
If you'd like to get your mitts on some more Blu-ray titles on the cheap, Warner's got a deal for you: As part of their DVD2Blu program, they've recently lowered prices on certain Blu-ray titles to only $4.95 (!) and have expanded their selection as well. In case you weren't aware, Warner's DVD2Blu program lets you trade in your old, 480p DVDs for the same movies in glorious Blu-ray. Wow! Simply go online to dvd2blu.com, select the titles you want and are trading in, then mail 'em your movies. You'll receive the Blu-ray versions in about 4-5 weeks. Shipping is a very reasonable $4.95 per order--or free if you order at least $35 worth of Blu-ray goodness. And with a growing selection of over 90 titles to choose from, what's not to like? Sure beats paying anywhere from $15 to $30 a pop on average. And now that you'll be flossin' with all those hi-def Blu-rays, what are you gonna do with those old standard-res DVDs anyway? Kudos to Warner for making it easier for everyone to enjoy hi-def movies.
