Microsoft is attempting to take some more wind out of Sony's PS3 sails. The Xbox360 Elite package is the newest offering from Microsoft. The matte black 360 is a slight upgrade on the current "Premium" pack with a larger 120gb hard drive and HDMI output. The 360 Elite will come in priced at $479, shipping this May. The larger, 120gb hard drive can also be purchased separately for $179 (kind of expensive) The finer details have not come out yet, mainly what version of HMDI and support for the new surround sound formats ( DTS HD-Master, Dolby Digital True HD) Personally I think Microsoft missed the mark on this upgraded version. I would have liked to see this "Elite" version be at the $400 price tag, and a price drop for the current models. What do you gamers think?

You've officially "gotten me started." Word is coming down that the Elite 360 will only have HDMI 1.2, meaning the audio on its HD DVD player will continue to be crippled.
At $179, the 120 GB Hard drive is more than expensive, it's nonsensical: As Penny-Arcade observed, the 360 is locked down pretty tight. The only content you can get on there is PREMIUM content. They should be practically giving them away.
